ACK!

English needs a conversational ACK. Something that says "I have received and understood your statement", but doesn't convey any sense of agreement, disagreement, or even neutrality or indifference.

This is especially true in text-based communication where, for whatever reason, communications could be lost. If someone isn't at their computer when I send a message, or a message gets lost in scroll, etc., I don't have to wonder if they got it. Or worry that I've offended them so greatly they stormed off in a huff.

On the other side, I want someone to know that I'm listening, but I don't necessarily want to agree with their statement. Maybe I'm still thinking or deciding, or maybe I'm being deliberately elusive or something.

Anyway, I propose 'ack' for all future use.
